"To rest is to allow yourself to be unfinished, but to enjoy yourself nonetheless. To accept that whatever task you have set yourself you will not achieve right at this instant, and being at peace with that. To sit down wherever you happen to stand and to see what can be enjoyed right here, never forgetting that at some point your journey will continue and carry you away from that resting place.
As someone that consciously started out on his spiritual journey a bit later in life, I’m all too familiar with the opposite of that, with always wanting to be somewhere else already and dismissing every place reached as not-yet-there. And when I wouldn’t get “there“ fast enough, I would punish myself, in feelings and deeds. Strangely enough, that didn’t seem to help very much and the more I tried to go faster the less I seemed to be moving. Eventually I was fortunate enough to meet some teachers who helped me to find a different way and one of the most important lessons I had to learn was to rest. To find self-love and compassion, in the face of the pain and challenges we all have to meet, even and especially when sometimes failing at them. To treat oneself the same way one would invite a tired friend to sit down and share water after a long day's walk.
So in this release I attempted to manifest those feelings, and to offer you a sonic space to find rest and comfort in. Hopefully whatever issue you are working on and whatever path you are treading for this half hour you can put it all aside, immersing yourself and recovering your strength to set out on your road again whenever you will be ready"

The Earth Viewing Experiment is the project of Heinrich Lenz, student of Electronic Composition at Folkwang University. Its rich textures, extensive use of field recordings and intricate melodies invite the listener to rest within themselves, providing a canvas for their thoughts and reflections to be projected upon. Drawing on the tools and techniques of Musique Concréte and influenced by sleep music and sound art it evokes a sense of timeless motion and infinite space, a journey deep into the sound itself reflecting an inward focus and a love and attention to details that are often drowned out in a noisy world. Neither fully electronic nor completely physical the music blurs the line between the real and the imaginary, inducing a dreamlike state of heightened awareness, a place outside of time; weightless and translucent.
